Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction
Large breasts should not be considered only as an aesthetic problem. Women with large breasts complain of hunching, neck pain, skin rashes under the breast, bra-related tissue problems in the shoulder and armpit. At the same time, movements may be restricted due to large breasts, and the movements we do in daily life may slow down or become difficult, let alone doing sports. Sagging as well as large breasts are among the reasons that restrict movements. Another disturbing situation is the difficulty in choosing clothes suitable for one's size. This situation, which is very annoying for women, can cause the person to dislike her appearance and lack of self-confidence.
Sometimes people do not feel psychologically well due to the sagging and large size of the breast and may want to hide their breasts by bringing their shoulders forward. This situation increases back and shoulder pain even more. This may cause more curvature of the spine, hunchback and posture disorders.
Patients who apply for breast reduction should first be questioned about their detailed family history and a careful examination should be performed. If there are diagnosed breast diseases in the family and close relatives, they should be evaluated and screening tests should be performed before surgery if necessary.
It should be questioned whether the growth in the breast is due to a hormonal problem, and if there is such a problem, treatment for the underlying cause should be started first. If the breast continues to grow, surgery should be postponed and the underlying cause should be investigated.
If there is a mass in the breast that is palpable on examination or a problem revealed in the examinations, procedures for diagnosis and treatment should be performed first. Reduction surgery is suitable for breasts that are not due to a hormonal cause and have not grown or shrunk in the last 6 months.
